What is the least crowded day of the week, typically? ....best time to avoid kids and school field trips?

I went early in the morning on a Wednesday. I found that there were few people there at that time. I would guess that anytime during the middle of the week would help avoid school trips.

There is quite a bit of lawn space, though not sure you can picnic there, it was late November when we visited, snow on the ground. There is a wall/walkway around the Lake where you can sit and have lunch. We walked to Adler, so can't comment on parking.
