Lovely walk and views. Signage good and kids and dogs love it. However, awful to see poo bags left everywhere on the walk. I lost count of how many! There should be bins provided and clear messages …Full review by sabisaac

It’s quite a walk up to the Edge! We started at De Trafford Arms and it took us twenty minutes. But you pass some beautiful houses on the way! Very spectacular. The when you reach the summit and the…Full review by RuthAshton65

Good views across to Manchester and Marple. Acres of woodland rambles and nice tearoom. Short walk up from Alderley Edge village where there are trains and buses, but not signposted from the centre. …Full review by railway_chap
I’d like to go up to the top today but am with someone who can’t really do ‘uphill’ walking. The NT says it’s an ‘easy’ walk but how easy actually is it?

Hi. This is gradual incline, with some steeper areas. Would guess that you would need to base your decision on how much stress your friend would be under. Is it physical or breathing difficulties? Not good for wheelchairs.
Whereabouts are The Iron Gates, please? We couldn’t find them!

There are Iron Gates at the entrance to one of the mines, the one at the top of the ridge called Stormy Point, looks like a long crack in the floor if you jump down you can see the Iron Gates.
Hi, I am wondering how long this walk will take? Also, where is the best starting point as I am not familiar with the area? Thank you

Hello Georgia from Liverpool. If you go up Macclesfield Road from Alderley Edge village after about 3/4 mile of uphill road you will come to a area of flat ground on top of the Edge. There is often room to park here. There is a footpath going left towards Castle Rock which has a good view to the left to Manchester Airport, Manchester city is straight in front of you, and the hills of Derbyshire are to your right. If you have time, there is a footpath going left very close to Castle Rock towards the Wizard's Well. You should be able to see the words 'Drink of this and take thy fill for the water falls by the Wizards will. Close by there is a cleft in the rock where sleeps the great knights of England's past, awaiting the call to rescue England in her hour of need. Going back past Castle Rock and taking the footpath that runs through the woods and parallel to the road you will get to Stormy Point, the Beacon which was lit to signal the arrival of the Spanish Armada, and Engine Vein mine, where firstly the Romans mined lead and copper. You should plan about two hours from your arrival at the car park. If the car park at Castle Rock is full there is a much bigger park behind the Wizard pub and tea room, about 3/4 mile towards Macclesfield. Then you can do the walk in the reverse to what I have said above. There is a map of the various walks in the woods on Google, perhaps called Alderley Edge Walks which will give you more information. Hope this helps. I grew up there !!
