An employee working at Charlotte Douglas International Airport was struck and killed by a ramp vehicle while on the tarmac Monday, authorities said.

A Charlotte airport worker was killed Monday morning after getting hit by a vehicle on the tarmac. Officials at Charlotte Douglas International Airport said an American Airlines employee was hit by an airline ramp vehicle in the paved area near the gate where planes park around 9:30 a.m. The name of the victim was not released.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the employee's family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time," the airport said

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ( WBTV /Gray News) – An employee was killed Monday at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said that around 9:38 a.m., officers were called to the airport for reports of an employee being hit by a vehicle on the tarmac.
