A Cal Fire captain has been arrested after a woman and a child died in a shooting in Cameron Park, the El Dorado County Sheriff said Friday.

A heat advisory for the area is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday. Temperatures in Calistoga are expected to reach a low of around 59 degrees Friday night and a high of near 91 degrees on Saturday, with 5 to 7 mph winds. Napa County officials said zones NPA-E114 and NPA-E120 are under evacuation orders, while zones NPA-E115, NPA-E121 and NPA-E122 are under evacuation warnings. Authorities say the Calistoga Community Center is open for evacuees.
CAL Fire CZU says that a car fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains has closed roads in the area. The fire has spread to a small area of vegetation, but forward progress has stopped. All lanes are blocked on northbound Highway 17 north of Vine Hill Road. California Highway Patrol says they are unsure when the roadway will reopen.
The closure of one of the most notorious stretches of California highway, delayed earlier this month because of the Gifford Fire, is now slated to take place next week before Labor Day weekend.
