A Cal Fire captain was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of a woman and a young boy in Cameron Park, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office announced .

A Cal Fire captain has been arrested after a woman and a child died in a shooting in Cameron Park, the El Dorado County Sheriff said Friday.

A heat advisory for the area is in effect until 9 p.m. Saturday. CAL Fire CZU says that a car fire in the Santa Cruz Mountains has closed roads in the area. The fire has spread to a small area of vegetation, but forward progress has stopped. All lanes are blocked on northbound Highway 17 north of Vine Hill Road. California Highway Patrol says they are unsure when the roadway will reopen.
