The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday advanced the nomination of Emil Bove, a top Justice Department official, to serve as a federal circuit judge.

Bove is arguably the single-most controversial circuit court nominee in modern American history. Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee didn’t care.

Grassley allowed the remaining senators to vote on advancing Bove and former Fox News host Jeanine Pirro, who is nominated to serve as U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia. The Republicans voted unanimously in favor of both.
