Hurricane Erin remains a powerful storm churning offshore — dangerous surf, rip currents, and coastal flooding threats continue along the U.S. East Coast. More details with meteorologist Amandeep Purewal.

Erin briefly became a Category 5 hurricane over the weekend and weakened to Category 3 status as it moved north and west of Puerto Rico this weekend. It is now a Category 4 storm and will be moving more north in the next few days.

The storm is not currently forecast to hit land, but its strong winds are impacting nearby islands, prompting warnings of possible flooding and landslides.
