Divya Deshmukh scripted history on Monday, defeating Koneru Humpy at the FIDE Women’s Chess World Cup final, and also became India’s 88th Grandmaster. She defeated Humpy in an all-Indian final which also went to tie-breaks and Divya ended up winning 1.

In a recent interview with FIDE, India’s Divya Deshmukh revealed that the team behind her historic Women’s World Cup triumph comprises Hungarian GM Csaba Balogh and Indian GM Abhimanyu Puranik.

Divya Deshmukh emerged victorious over Koneru Humpy in the final of the FIDE Women's World Cup 2025 final, becoming India's 88th chess grandmaster in the process.
