TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — Israel’s defense minister said Wednesday that troops have recovered the bodies of two additional hostages from Gaza. Defense Minister Israel Katz said the bodies of Yosef Al Zaydani and his son Hamzah were recovered in an operation, without disclosing further details.

The deal would secure release of a third of the approximately 100 hostages who remain in Gaza, including two dual U.S.-Israeli nationals. In return, Israel would release some Palestinian prisoners.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army announced it had discovered the body of a 53 year old Bedouin Arab hostage in the Gaza Strip, who'd been seized in the October 7th attack. Soldiers are now investigating "findings which raise serious concerns" for the life of his 22 year old son,

A father and son thought to still be alive after they were taken hostage by Hamas during the terror group’s 2023 attack on Israel were found dead in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military told their loved ones Wednesday.

Israeli troops have retrieved the body of a Bedouin Muslim father of 19 who was taken hostage by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023. It was not immediately clear how and when Youssef Ziyadne died, but authorities said his body had been found in a Hamas tunnel in Rafah and that evidence indicated “grave concern” about his son Hamza’s fate.
