IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Former Drake guard Isaia Howard announced his commitment to Iowa Thursday. This comes following the announcement that former Drake head coach Ben McCollum will now serve as the head coach for the Iowa men’s basketball team.

Isaia Howard, a 6-foot-5 guard, is joining his Drake basketball coach at Iowa. Howard averaged 4.5 points in a reserve’s role for Ben McCollum’s Bulldogs in the 2024-25 season. He had 21 points and six steals in Drake’s Missouri Valley Conference tournament semifinal win over Belmont and scored 11 in the Bulldogs’ title-game win over Bradley.

Ben McCollum continues to bring some important pieces from Drake over to Iowa City now that he's head coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Freshman Avery Howell is leaving Southern California and entering the transfer portal, along with two other Trojans guards.

After going 31-4 in his only season at Drake, Ben McCollum moves to the Big Ten to take over a daunting rebuild at Iowa.
