Storm damage is being reported in Owasso after a possible tornado tore through the area, leaving homes destroyed, power lines down, and residents assessing the aftermath.

More than a dozen twisters ripped across the US Wednesday, including a tornado in Owasso, Oklahoma, that damaged buildings, utility poles, and trees.

Cleanup is underway in Owasso after a tornado ripped through the city overnight, leaving widespread damage in neighborhoods like Fairways at Bailey Ranch.

By Stef Manchen Click here for updates on this story OWASSO, Oklahoma (KJRH) — Owasso city councilors unanimously declared a state of emergency following an EF-1 tornado hitting the city on April 2nd.

"You could hardly get through the street, because of all of the vehicles and support help and trucks and already beginning to remove debris and people on roofs," the mayor said.

: Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Tulsa surveyed the storm damage in Owasso Wednesday and said they found high-end EF-1 damage. EF-1 tornadoes have wind speeds between 86-110 miles per hour.

The Owasso Police Department is using drones to survey damage following Wednesday's tornado. OPD said soon after the storm, Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) pilots and spotters were searching areas that were difficult to reach,

Severe storms wreaked havoc in Owasso, causing a 10-mile path of destruction and damaging homes and power lines, but no injuries were reported.

After Wednesday morning's tornado, multiple agencies and organizations have come together to provide support for those affected.
