Wichita had 5.9 inches of snow fall on Thursday, bringing the January total up to 9.5 inches, according to National Weather Service data. That amount, as measured at the Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, already ties for the 12th snowiest January on records dating back to 1888.

As much as 10.5 inches of snow fell late Thursday and early Friday in Kansas, the National Weather Service said.
