Rep. Tom Barrett of Michigan says a couple who was jailed in Mexico are returning to the U.S. after spending a month behind bars over a timeshare dispute.

Paul and Christy Akeo are coming home after spending a month behind bars in a Mexican prison amid a timeshare dispute.

Monthly charges were made on a credit card, but between August and November 2022, the hotel learned that the couple allegedly disputed charges totaling more than $116,000. Additionally, Mexican authorities said Christy shared information on social media about how they had broken their contract.
