Nigeria separatists say they are committed to peaceful self-determination after leaders sentenced
The Indigenous People of Biafra, a separatist group in southeastern Nigeria, remains committed to peaceful self-determination after a court sentenced its leader to life in prison for terrorism.
The five terror suspects are accused by the SSS of being the masterminds of the 26 August 2011 bombing of the UN Complex in Abuja, during which 20 people were killed.
The court convicted Biafran separatist leader Nnamdi Kanu on terrorism-related charges. "His intention was quite clear as he believed in violence," the judge says.
