Tropical activity has increased in the Atlantic Ocean as the WPTV First Alert Weather Team is tracking two named storms and one other area that has a high chance of developing.
While there are no longer any active storms that we are currently tracking around our the Gulf or the Atlantic Ocean, there is one area that we are watching for potential tropical development. This is a tropical wave that is located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
Hurricane season is not shutdown. Meteorologists are tracking Hurricane Priscilla, Tropical Storm Jerry, and a future hybrid Nor'easter off the U.S. East Coast.
The National Weather Service said a high risk of dangerous rip currents is expected through at least Wednesday.
Should another weather system develop into a tropical storm, it would be named Jerry, which is next on the list of 2025 Atlantic storm names.
