North Texas logged its 35th consecutive day without measurable rainfall at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport on Thursday, as extreme heat, dry soil, and elevated fire dangers continue to grip the region.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for North Texas as high pressure brings seasonably hot, dry weather with temperatures exceeding 100 degrees and elevated wildfire conditions, prompting local burn bans across the region.

Well, the weather is quiet across North Texas this morning, but scattered shower and thunderstorm chances will gradually increase each day through Sunday morning. We're off to a pleasant start with temperatures hovering around 70 degrees this morning.

The First Alert Weather Team continues to monitor the fire danger area wide as it is once again elevated across North Texas with wind gusts today up to 25 mph.

We are stuck in a hot and dry weather pattern as a ridge of high pressure basically parks over the southern plains. We won't notice much difference from day to day for a while. Temperatures will be consistently around 100 degrees with plenty of sunshine. The wind will have the most variability, with some days being breezy and others not so much.
