A 3.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Mettler Monday afternoon, according to the USGS. The tremor was reported around 12:09 p.m., west of Mettler, according to the United States Geological Survey.
Monday’s quake, the largest in the Bay Area in nearly three years, caused no serious damage or injuries. It occurred along the Hayward-Rodgers Creek Fault. The last major quake there was in 1868.
