A Louisiana family missed the $1.1 billion Powerball jackpot by a single number, but still took home a large prize. 'We were shocked,' John Stokes said of his family's win.

The jackpot for Saturday's Powerball drawing has jumped to $1.8 billion. However, the windfall would significantly shrink after taxes.

A Powerball ticket purchased at a Tri-Cities grocery store won $100,000 in the Sept. 27 drawing, lottery officials said. Because the player bought a Power Play add-on, the $50,000 prize turned into $100,000, a spokesperson for Washington’s Lottery said in an email.

The winner forgot to check her ticket until a few days after the drawing. That's when she learned she'd won a $1 million prize.

Two lucky punters have taken home the jackpot of $50m in Thursday night’s Powerball. The winning numbers for Powerball draw 1534 were: 11, 21, 15, 28, 10, 20 and 24 with the Powerball number 20. There were seven division two winners, who have won $121,536.10 each, and 85 division three winners, who each took home a prize of $12,443.45.

Since winning the historic $2.04B jackpot in 2023, choosing a lump sum payout of $997 million, Castro has purchased a luxury Los Angeles property for $47 million, a $25.5 million home in the Hollywood Hills and a $4 million home in Altadena, California.
