Flight operations are ordered to be reduced by 4% at 40 major U.S. airports starting Friday, and will gradually increase to 10% over a week, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced.

The FAA said the reductions would start at 4% and ramp up to 10% by Nov. 14.
