The U.S. special envoy to Lebanon says his team will discuss a long-term cessation of hostilities with Israel. This follows Beirut's endorsement of a U.S.

Naim Kassem, leader of Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group, said the government should have instead "spread its authority and evicted Israel from Lebanon."

Under phase one of the US-backed plan, the Lebanese government is to issue a decision committing to Hezbollah’s full disarmament by the end of the year – which it now has – and Israel will cease military operations in Lebanese territory.
