Oppenheimer was no slouch, however, outperforming expectations with an impressive $82.4 million. Similarly, the Sunday estimate for Oppenheimer was lower than what the film ended up grossing.

Thanks to the Academy Awards, "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" will likely remain in the conversation through March of next year, when each film looks set to receive some recognition at the 2024 Oscars.
