WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that he was committed to peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia and that he believed he would succeed in achieving that goal. "I think peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia is not only feasible, I think it's going to happen," Netanyahu told reporters in Washington.

Contradicting President Trump, Saudi Arabia said that establishing ties with Israel would depend on the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

Saudi Arabia’s foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it would not establish diplomatic relations with Israel without the creation of a Palestinian state after US President Donald Trump said he would “take over” the Gaza Strip.

In a statement, the Saudi foreign ministry said it would continue its relentless efforts to establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, and would not establish diplomatic relations with Israel without that.
