Des Moines police say two officers fired shots at a suspect who said he had a gun. That suspect, identified so far only as a 36-year-old man, has died.

Des Moines police are investigating two armed robberies, one involving gunfire. Both incidents happened just before 6:45 p.m. Friday in the Union Park Neighborhood. One was on E 9th Street, the other was on E 11th. Police say both victims reported being robbed at gunpoint by multiple people outside their homes.
