A flashy but shallow premiere, “The Robot Revolution” offers sparks of potential in its new TARDIS duo, but fails to do much else.

Case in point; Lux Imperator, the god of light. When the Doctor and Belinda first meet Mr Ring-a-Ding is revealed to be the harbinger of the coming of Lux Imperator. The marquee for the (entirely fictional) Rock Hudson movie, The Harvest Bringer even falls apart to reveal the words "HAR B INGER"!

As well as being a great visual, it's a handy metaphor for the show's newfound disregard for the so-called fourth wall — in the modern Whoniverse, fictional characters acknowledging their audience is becoming increasingly standard.
