Katheryn Eads was among the victims of the tragic flooding. She was a psychology senior lecturer at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Professor Eads joined UTSA in 2022 and became a full-time faculty member in the Department of Psychology in the College for Health, Community and Policy this year, according to UTSA.

Many of the victims were staying at Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian summer camp located along the banks of the Guadalupe River. There were 10 campers and one counselor still unaccounted for at the time of the press conference Monday morning,
