MSNBC Will Now Be Called MS NOW After Splitting Off from NBCUniversal. Here's What It Stands For
On Monday, Aug. 18, the cable news channel revealed it has rebranded amid its exit from NBCUniversal. MSNBC will now be called My Source for News, Opinion and the World, or MS NOW.
In addition to MS NOW, USA Network and Golf Channel will merge into a new USA Sports brand and CNBC will change its logo but retain its name
CNN's Marcus Mabry, Crooked Media’s Madeleine Hareringer, and ABC News’ Scott Matthews are among the big names joining the executive suite. It is losing Steve Kornacki to NBC but gaining NBC's Jacob Soboroff (both had split their time in recent years.)
MSNBC's new name, "MS NOW," was mocked on social media on Monday, and the branding change was compared to several failed computer software products.

Rachel Maddow Breaks Silence On MSNBC Rebrand
Mark Lazarus, who will lead Versant, a company consisting of MS NOW and other cable assets, officially announced the cable news network's new name, which is short for My Source News Opinion World. The network will also drop the iconic NBC peacock symbol from its logo, replacing it with a blue background with a red-and-white striped flag.
