LONDON (AP) — Britain’s charity regulator has opened an investigation into an African charity co-founded by Prince Harry, a week after the prince and the organization’s board of trustees resigned amid a dispute with the charity’s chairwoman.

Britain’s top charity watchdog announced it has launched an investigation into Sentebale, an African charity established by Prince Harry in memory of his mother, Princess Diana.

Just over a week after Prince Harry released a statement with Sentebale co-founder Prince Seeiso of Lesotho announcing their resignation as patrons from the charity, Prince Harry has released an additional statement in which he said he hoped the Charity Commission would “unveil the truth” as the watchdog organization announced an investigation into Sentebale.

The Charity Commission is to examine the bitter dispute that led to the Duke of Sussex and several others resigning from the charity he co-founded. The watchdog announced it had begun a "regulatory compliance case" involving Sentebale,

Harry has been accused of bullying and harassment since his resignation from Sentebale, the AIDS charity he founded.
