James Madison University in Harrisonburg has announced that Dr. James C. Schmidt will serve as its seventh president.

The seventh president of James Madison University (JMU) has been announced following a meeting of the Board of Visitors at Wilson Hall on Wednesday.

Schmidt is the top official, or chancellor, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, a role he has held since 2013.
