As warmer, wetter air surges into our area during the day Wednesday, the threat for severe storms will be on the rise. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of West Michigan in an "enhanced risk" area for severe storms, which is a level 3 of 5 threat, level 5 being the highest possible.

Severe weather is possible throughout southeast Michigan Sunday evening. Due to the heightened risk the NEXT Weather Team will be at our Alert Day levels, providing additional coverage on our livestream through the evening. A line of storms should form this afternoon to our southwest and race to the northeast at approximately 50 mph.

Mid-Michigan faces snow and ice on April 1 as severe weather approaches, with hazardous travel expected north of M-46.
