Russian forces launched a massive drone attack overnight on Ukraine's Kharkiv region, injuring 21 people and damaging residential buildings and storage facilities, emergency services and officials said on Thursday.

At least four people were killed in the central Ukrainian city of Dnipro by a massed Russian overnight drone strike, local officials reported, with 22 others injured.

The U.S. reached deals with Ukraine and Russia to pause their attacks over the Black Sea and against each other's energy targets, but it was not clear when and how the deals would come into force.

Ukrainian forces have responded to Russian efforts to expel them from one part of Russian territory by launching a large number of attacks on another border area, using drones, artillery and troops.

Ukrainian officials say two people were killed when Russian drones struck a military hospital, shopping center and apartment buildings in Ukraine’s second-largest city of Kharkiv.

The strike sparked a large fire in a hotel and restaurant complex and other buildings, the regional governor said.

A Russian strike drone hit a military hospital in Kharkiv on the evening of 29 March, injuring patients and staff and damaging several buildings. But by the next day the hospital had resumed performing operations.

Regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said a 67-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were killed in the attack on Ukraine’s second-largest city. Ukraine’s General Staff denounced the “deliberate, targeted shelling” of the military hospital.
