The financially struggling Rosemont College has struck a definitive agreement to merge into neighboring Villanova University, beginning in 2027 and becoming final in 2028, officials from the Catholic schools said Monday.

It's the second such move in recent years for Villanova after acquiring Cabrini University's 112-acre campus last spring.

Rosemont College and Villanova University will undergo a multi-year transition to allow students to graduate with Rosemont College degrees. Following the transition, the college will become Villanova University,
