Cricket Australia has expressed its disappointment that Australian Rules team the Adelaide Crows refused South Australia permission to host the Sheffield Shield final at Adelaide Oval later this month.

Cricket Australia was pushing for the Shield final to be played at Adelaide Oval from March 24-28 but AFL did not give in to the requests.

Discussions have been held between SA's premier and the Australian Football League to have the game played at Adelaide Oval in the week between football fixtures

An Adelaide Oval Sheffield Shield final wedged between two AFL games at the same venue is “gaining momentum” according to Redbacks coach Ryan Harris after his team secured a shot at a first title since 1996.

The Crows want to see the Sheffield Shield final played at Adelaide Oval in an ideal world but have stressed that it cannot come at the expense of player safety or financial impost on the club.
