President Donald Trump has said little about his idea of relocating many of the Gaza Strip’s 2 million Palestinians to other countries since he stunned the world by announcing it in February. Israel has been in talks with African countries — many of which are themselves wracked by war and at risk of famine — about taking Palestinians in.

Overnight, the Israeli army carried out a limited incursion into the Al-Sabra neighborhood in southern Gaza City, accompanied by heavy artillery shelling that left five people dead. Israel has killed more than 62,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
