Flash floods in Texas killed at least 82 people over the Fourth of July holiday weekend and left others still missing, including girls attending a summer camp.

KERRVILLE, Texas — Crews trudged through debris and waded into swollen riverbanks Monday in the search for victims of catastrophic flooding over the July Fourth weekend that killed more 80 people in Texas, including more than two dozen campers and counselors from an all-girls Christian camp.

The devastating floods that struck central Texas over the Fourth of July weekend have become one of the deadliest flood events in the U.S. in the past century, Newsweek previously reported. By Sunday evening, authorities had confirmed at least 82 fatalities.
