Mexican striker Lizbeth Ovalle became the most expensive player in women's professional soccer history when she transferred from Tigres to Orlando Pride.

The women's soccer tranfer fee record fell again, as the Orlando Pride threw down the gauntlet in NWSL by signing Mexico star Lizbeth Ovalle.

Lizbeth Ovalle is expected to join the Orlando Pride from Mexico's Tigres UANL on a record transfer fee of $1.5 million, a person with knowledge of the negotiations told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
