The U.S. State Department said on Monday the American government played no role in the release of an Israeli official charged with soliciting sex electronically from a minor.

President Donald Trump's administration denied assisting an Israeli official who was reportedly charged with child sex crimes in Nevada. In a statement last week, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said that eight individuals had been arrested in a sting targeting child sex predators.

An Israeli government official was arrested during a child sex-crime joint sting operation in Nevada earlier this month, racking up a felony charge of "luring a child with computer for sex act," according to a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department press release.
