A Staten Island man charged with tossing his 1-year-old niece down an a garbage chute had just one word for the panicked dad trying to find the baby girl: “incinerator.”

A man was taken into custody after he dropped his 1-year-old infant niece down a garbage chute inside a Staten Island apartment building, according to law enforcement sources. Police were called just after 3 p.

A 1-year-old baby is recovering after being thrown down a garbage chute on Staten Island Monday, police said. It happened at around 3:15 p.m. at 195 Steuben Street near Weser Avenue. The baby was rushed to Richmond University Hospital in stable condition. The child was apparently not injured.
