Walmart recalled Braga Fresh Marketside broccoli and the FDA just categorized it as Class 1, meaning the produce is potentially “deadly.” Here’s why.

The recall affects 12-ounce bags of the product, which were sold in 20 states and pose serious health risks if consumed.

In early January it was revealed that Walmart's washed and ready-to-eat 12 oz. Marketside Broccoli Florets were voluntarily recalled by Braga Fresh due to a possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes. Although the item is no longer on shelves, consumers could still have bags in their freezer.

When the FDA upgrades a recall, it's time to check your fridge or freezer for that particular product. This broccoli now poses a more serious Listeria risk.
