Italian American Heritage Month is a beautiful time to reflect on family- their sacrifices, achievements and yes, even their imperfections- my mother, with deep roots in Lombardy, carried herself with an elegant grace like her mother Lucia; on my dad’s side, my grandmother Viola from the Veneto, was a force of nature, who prayed harder than the entire village, without anyone knowing- my aunts, cousins- I have been lucky to know and love them.
