In 2016, Chinese racing driver Peter Li Zhi Cong was involved in a terrifying crash at the Red Bull Ring in Austria during an FIA Formula 3 European Championship race. Unable to see the stopped car in front of him, he crashed into it at high speed, launching his own vehicle into the air. His car flipped multiple times before slamming into the barriers, leaving him with fractures in his heel and vertebrae.
