Well, sort of. The Baltimore Colts defeated the Dallas Cowboys 35-3 in the 1966 Playoff Bowl played in front of 65,569 fans at the Orange Bowl. Legendary Florida QB & Head Ball Coach Steve Spurrier dominated the college landscape in 1966, the season he won the Heisman Trophy (& the Orange Bowl). After Florida, he was selected 3rd overall to the San Francisco 49ers. October 16, 1966: On this day 58 years ago, the Miami Dolphins won their first game in franchise history, defeating the Denver Broncos 24-7 in front of 23,393 fans at the Orange Bowl. Miami started its inaugural season 0-5. Quarterback George Wilson Jr., who was the son of the team's head coach, threw a 67 yard touchdown pass to fullback Billy Joe.
