The Austin Montego was built between 1984 and 1995, both under British Leyland and the Rover Group and had to compete with the Vauxhall Cavalier, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Passat and Renault 21. This car was designed by a team of engineering stylists, Ian Beech, David Bache, Royden Axe and Roger Tucker and built at Cowley and Longbridge.
