Now, if you remember Anya was a newly mortal vengeance demon that was stripped of her powers and left in the guise of a seventeen year old high school student. This was a great vessel for the writers to express humor and to poke fun of things. In many ways, she took over what the Cordelia character did when Charisma Carpenter joined the Angel spinoff.
