The global rules-based multilateral system previously optimised for efficiency in a different era needs to be reformed and updated to catch up with the realities of today, said Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. Speaking at the G20 Summit in Johannesburg on Saturday (22 Nov), Mr Wong told world leaders: “We cannot be paralysed by old ways of doing things.” He added that as interdependencies become vulnerabilities open to leverage in disputes, countries may focus on self-protection — but if
