Actinomycetes are filamentous bacteria similar to fungi that grow threadlike hyphae and produce spores. They release enzymes to decompose plant cellulose, lignin, and chitin. As mentioned in my previous post, chitin is found in the cell walls of fungi, exoskeletons of arthropods (insects, arachnids, crustaceans, myriapods), as well as nematodes.
