In one of the greatest contests ever seen in Britain, America's world light-heavyweight champion Gus Lesnevich stopped tough British contender Freddie Mills in the tenth round of the scheduled fifteen-round championship fight at Harringay Stadium #OnThisDay in 1946. Both boxers were badly battered. Lesnevich floored Mills twice in the second round and twice again the 10th, before the referee stopped the fight.
