David Prowse MBE, the Bristolian bodybuilder who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy, has died aged 85. He was cast for his hulking 6’6” frame, but his West Country accent wasn’t deemed suitable for Darth Vader so the character was dubbed.
